well i’ve managed to move on…up! buh-bye budget hotel in the 13th. bonjour saint germain! ok, now i really may never leave. tonight, i walked the rues in my new hood and combined my two loves — impromptu photo shoots and street art. thanks to a couple of strangers on the street. one who did the clickin. and the other who did the primpin. and neither of whom took off with my i-touch. thank gawd! altho they did warn me to keep a better eye on my things. if only they knew…last week, a housekeeper returned my most prized possession, my grandmother’s ring, which i inexplicably forgot in my room upon checkout. and yesterday, i found my gloves. right where i left them the night before. “you’re lucky,” said the barman. understatement of the year.
ah, the eiffel has shut off its lights for the night, so perhaps so should i. yup, i got a room with a view…i hate me, too. g’nite bebes!

you know how it goes. one day you’re in a bunk bed in copenhagen; the next, a queen-sized bed in paree. it’s safe to say i have moved on up in the world of accommodations thanks to one of my tres generous friends who has given me the keys to her utterly charming place for the next three weeks. amazing, right?! so it’s back to life in paree. bottles of wine. 5am nights. girl talk. and thanks to my new digs: up-close ‘n’ personal views of the eiffel on my way home. but before i get too comfortable, time to find a place to sleep in milano. something tells me i should stop trolling airbnb:

me: uh so where will i sleep if there’s only one bedroom?

him: you will share the whole flat and the bedroom with me!!

gotta love the italians! t-4 days…let the countdown begin!

alas, i have broken off my affair with espana. to come back home to my lady, paree. at least till i cheat again…next month. with whom? only time will tell…

getting back in the swing of my parisian life. 4am nights. sunday apero hour. walks in the summer rain (uh enuf with the rain already, paris!). and a trip down memory lane. back to the 16th. where it all began.

well i s’pose i should unpack. although is there really a point? if i just have to re-pack it all in a couple of weeks?? you would think i would have a system at this point. and i do: just shove everything inside and hope the zipper doesn’t break. so far, so good.

bonne journee, bebes! here’s hoping it’s sunny in your neck of the woods.

so…i never made it inside the louvre. (of course i didn’t) however, i did manage to see a whopping five museums in the last few days with the ‘rents. not too shabby! there was lunch in the beautiful gardens at rodin. the loverly monet rooms at l’orangerie. getting shushed at the pompidou. (uhhh enough with the shushing!) the purty matisses at the modern art museum. and our desperate attempt to find starry night at d’orsay. only to find out it wasn’t there. uhhhh! damn them for loaning out a masterpiece!

we hung out on the tip of ile st. louis. (just the tip. ew. sorry) heard (a minute of) mass at notre dame. admired the statues in the tuileries (great tour guide that i am, i showed them my fave: the man with no balls.) ate gelato on the streets of saint germain. and last night, we made it to the top of the eiffel. all 1000+ feet. and watched her light up as we cruised along on a boat. my parents kissed under the pont marie. to commemorate 40 years of marriage (in august). and i made my own wish.

now, for our last day (noooo, how can it be our last day?!): montmartre! but first: i attempt to track down the pistachio strudel my dad spotted in a marais boulangerie. but regrets not trying. how can i let him leave paris without getting a taste?! the clock is ticking…cue the mission impossible music. and i’m off!
