i dedicate today’s post to love. in the city of love. that i have grown to love. not just cuz the grey skies have turned blue. although that sure helps! but a beautiful backdrop would mean nothing without the right people to fill it. so here’s to all the friends i have made along the way. the ones who greeted me when i arrived. introduced me to my fave irish bar. where my vodka/perriers now come in a doubles glass with a glow-in-the-dark straw. helped me through the dark time when my grandfather passed away. convinced me to stay. when i thought perhaps italy. spain. germany. denmark. anywhere but here. could be the answer. and the one. who walked me home. and showed me how amazing this city can truly be when you have someone by your side. to l’amour!

today is tough. a continent away from my family as they gather to mourn the man behind the mustache. despite battling alzheimer’s, he always remembered two things: my grandmother, who passed away in 2009. and the songs he crooned to me my whole life, right up to the end. i’ll never forgot those either. r.i.p. zaidy.

or bon saint valentin as they say in paree! which i just learned from my locksmith. who let me into my apartment at 2am. after three long hours of waiting. with my keys in hand. yep, that’s right, i managed to get locked out despite having my keys. oh paris, how you make the simplest task an adventure.
but i’m not gonna hate on you today. of all days. i’m gonna remember my love. written in snow.

i love paris. even when its moody. and gray. and gloomy. but it’s nice to know it has a bright side. today, for the first time since my arrival, the sun came out to play. in honor of such a momentous occasion, i donned my sunglasses. for a whole 15 minutes. wore a respectable three layers instead of my usual four. walked along the seine. and meandered around le marais with my ole kindergarten pal. reflecting on life. love. and good weather. which i suppose is all relative. especially afta living in la.
good weather is no longer expected. it’s appreciated. so i would like to say merci beaucoup, paris. for stopping the snow. and the rain. long enuf to show me the sun. and a sliver of the moon. which i spotted hanging ovah the louvre. on my way home.
life. is. good.

in a day. to one of my new fave streets. and saw all the stuff i missed several hours earlier. before meeting up w/peeps. at a cool lil bar in the 6th. with no name on the door. ny style.
what a glorious half-month anniversary. with people who made me laugh. one who made me cry (tears of compassion! for once!). and the two who told me their jesus year stories: one arrived in paris on her 33rd birthday and got preggers soon after; the other met her love at 33. and the ending. always with a a cabbie. who wanted to know when i’m gonna make some babies. preferably with him. gotta love the frenchies.
